To support student success and ensure fair access to the Rent Well eCourse, the program has a standard 2-month waiting period between enrollment attempts. This pause helps us maintain high-quality outcomes and offer the course to as many learners as possible. Here’s why the policy exists:
- We want students to be set up for success. Over the years, we have consistently seen that students who try to re-enroll immediately after not completing the course rarely do better the second time. Even when the motivation is strong, there are often larger life circumstances pulling attention away from the coursework. The pause is not a judgment. It’s simply a built-in breathing space to give students time to stabilize, regroup, and re-engage when they’re in a better position to complete the course successfully.
- A pause supports meaningful engagement with the curriculum. Rent Well is designed to be practical, reflective, and skill-building. Students benefit most when they can dedicate focused time to completing the lessons and building their housing portfolio. The 2-month window helps ensure that when a student returns, they can fully participate and get the most out of the experience.
- The pause helps maintain equitable access for all students. The eCourse has limited enrollment capacity. Without a waiting period, repeated back-to-back enrollment attempts could reduce access for new students who have not yet had a chance to take the course. The 2-month pause helps keep the program fair and available to everyone who needs it.
Exceptions are available when appropriate. We recognize that each student’s situation is unique, and there are times when immediate re-enrollment is appropriate. Exceptions may be made under certain circumstances, including:
- A request for a reasonable accommodation
- A student who is actively working with a case manager who has a plan to support the timely completion of the course
- An immediate housing opportunity requiring a quicker turnaround
Students or case managers can contact the Rent Well team to request an exception and discuss the specific situation.
