The eCourse sections will time out at 60 minutes. If the user is active in the portal, the time will be extended, but activity in the portal isn't the same as activity inside a launched eCourse section. This means that activity inside an eCourse section alone does not count as activity in the portal and does not extend the timeout period.
After 52 minutes of inactivity, the following pop-up message will appear even if the user clicks through the eCourse and in the portal window.
When the user selects "Continue," the session extends another 60 minutes, and then the same message would happen again in 52 minutes.
If the user doesn't click "Continue" within 2 minutes, at 54 minutes of inactivity, a course logout and the following message appear in the eCourse section window. This message will only appear if the user doesn't select "Continue" between the 52- and 54-minute mark.
Even if the user "Xs" out of either of these messages, that isn't enough to extend the user's time in the portal before they get auto-timed out. A user may be able to "X" out of the messages and finish the eCourse section, but that completion of the section will not be recorded because the system would have already logged out the user.
