When you are teaching a course either in-person or online through Zoom, there are only a few ways that you can divide the course curriculum. The curriculum itself is divided into 12 sections, and each section should be scheduled for 70-minute increments.
Depending on how you choose to schedule your course, it could last anywhere from three to 12 weeks. However, most instructors opt to teach the class in four to six-week timeframes. The few ways that you can plan the timeline for your course are:

  • Twelve 70-minute classes (once, twice, or three times a week)
  • Six 2 ½ hour classes (this would include two sections and a 10-minute break)
  • Four 4-hour classes (this would include three sections and two 15-minute breaks) and lastly,
  • Three 6-hour classes (which would consist of four sections, two 10-minute breaks, and an hour lunch break)
  • If planning to teach on Zoom, it is highly encouraged that you only teach one section at a time and set aside an hour and a half for this. The additional time is beneficial if any tech issues arise.
